Henry IV (1399-1461), Light coinage, Halfpenny, 0.62g, London, crowned bust facing, rev. long cross patée, three pellets in each angle (N.1367; S.1737; Withers type 1 var (new type 1b), small chip out of edge between 5 and 7 o´clock, fine Estimate £ 400-500Found January 2006 at Ash near Sandwich The UK Detector Finds Database lists this coin with the following description: ´The coin is a hitherto unrecorded variety of Withers type 1. The obverse legend has an apostrophe and pellet after HENRIC, and a double-pellet (colon) after REX. Saltire stops are normally used on the Halfpennies of this reign, with only one coin, Withers type 1a, having single pellet stops alone between the words. The UKDFD is grateful to Paul Withers for confirmation of this identification , and for assigning to it the designation ´Type 1b´.
