Ethiopia, Emperor Haile Selassie (1930-74), Gold Coronation medal, EE1923 (1930), fourth issue, by André Laurillier, 40mm., 40.04g, crowned bust three quarters left, signed in right field, rev. throne of Solomon between angels, the Lion of Juda in front (Gil S13), extremely fine, scarce, in case of issue Estimate £ 400-500These medals bear the coronation date EE1923 at the base of the bust, but are believed to have been made later. There are two varieties, with and without signature, and two sizes, 30mm. and 40mm. They vary in weight.
