An Officer´s Helmet of the Bengal Horse Artillery A rare and magnificent helmet with black-lacquered metal peak and skull, the latter with gilt metal side-bars and curved gilt band inscribed HORSE ARTILLERY beneath a leopardskin turban mounted with a small gilt shield bearing the Gun, the concave Tarleton-style peak edged with gilt metal binding, embossed gilt crest as for 1812 Heavy Cavalry helmet, with scarlet horsehair mane, crimson silk rosette and gold tassel at the rear, gilt scales with claw finials, secured by black silk ribbon, original quilted silk lining; together with its shaped tin (2) See illustration ….and on back cover Estimate £ 7,500-10,000
