Vassar, Royal Army Ordnance Corps, Late Bandsman Coldstream Guards, 4th Hussars and Seconded Malaysian Ordnance Corps General Service 1962-, two clasps, Dhofar, Northern Ireland, last clasp loose on riband (Capt. R. (sic) D. Vassar RAOC.), suspension loose; Army Long Service & G.C., E.II.R., with ´Regular Army´ suspension (2670591 S. Sgt. T.D. Vassar. RAOC.); Malaysia, Order of Bintang Seri Laila Jasa neck Badge, silver and enamel, 90mm including suspension x 55mm, in Spink & Son, St. James case of issue; Pingat Pangkuan Negara Medal; Kerana Perkhidmatan Am; Pingat Laila Tugas, General Service Medal, silver and enamel; Oman, Peace Medal, with Operational Award; Malaysia, Pingat Peringatan Malaysia; Oman, Tenth Anniversary Medal, very fine or better, mounted court style as originally worn, in this order, with (9) associated miniature awards; Salver, silver plate, engraved ´Major T.D. Vassar Coldm Gds, 4H. QRIH, RAOC, MOC, RBMR, SOLF´ with all the mottos of the regiments that he served in additionally engraved; cloth insignia; (2) albums of photographs; and the following documents: - Commission appointing T.D. Vassar as Second Lieutenant, Royal Army Ordnance Corps, dated 13.1.1970 - Warrant, Royal Army Ordnance Corps, dated 15.7.1965 - letter addressed to recipient from the Chief Secretary to the Government (Malaysia) informing him of the recommendation for him to receive the Pingat Pangkuan Negara, dated 6.5.1968 - letter from Vassar´s commanding officer to his father, in relation to the above award, dated 6.6.1968 - 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class Army Certificates of Education, named to ´2670591 Boy Daniel Vassar, 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards, dated 23.6.1948, 17.10.1946 and 6.6.1946 respectively (9) Estimate £ 400-600Major Thomas Daniel Vassar, born London, 1931; joined as Boy Coldstream Guards, 1946; served in the Band of the Coldstream Guards, before transferring to the Band of the 4th Hussars; transferred Royal Army Ordnance Corps, 1959; served with 6th Infantry Brigade Ordnance Field Park in Munster, Germany, October 1959-January 1960; Warrant Officer 8.12.1964; seconded to the Malaysian Ordnance Corps 1966-68, whith whom he served as Staff Quartermaster-Sergeant and Senior Instructor at the Corps School, Batu Garrison, Kuala Lumpur, ´Due to his own knowledge of the Malay language, obtained by private study, he has been instrumental in ensuring a smooth change over from English as the main medium of instruction to 100% instruction in the National Language´ (Document included in lot refers), it was in this capacity that he was awarded the Pingat Pangkuan Negara (the equivalent of the British Empire Medal) in the King of Malaysia´s Birthday honours, 5.6.1968; having served in the ranks for 24 years and 60 days Vassar was commissioned Second Lieutenant 8.12.1969; Acting Captain 5.7.1970-7.12.1971; Captain 8.12.1971.
