Four: Private C. Sopp, Hampshire Regiment, Later Metropolitan Police India General Service 1854-95, two clasps, Burma 1885-7, Burma 1887-89 (834 Pte. C. Sopp 2d. Bn. Hamps. R.), the second clasp loose on riband; Jubilee 1897 (P.C. C. Sopp. W. Divn.); Coronation 1902 (P.C. C. Sapp. (sic) W. Div.); Coronation 1911 (P.C. C. Sopp.), good very fine or better (4) Estimate £ 280-320834 Private, later 76818 Police Constable Charles Sopp, born 29.6.1867 at Hungerford, Berkshire; enlisted in the Hampshire Regiment 6.4.1883 aged 15, although Sopp informed the Attesting Officer that he was 19; served in Malta 23.7.1884 - 11.3.1885; India 12.3.1885 - 21.1.1891; Transferred to the Reserve 29.1.1891; Discharged after 12 years´ service 5.4.1895. Upon Transfer to the Reserve Sopp joined the Metropolitan Police 1.6.1891, this time giving his correct date of birth; served with F (Paddington) Division; Transferred to W (Clapham) Division 24.2.1897; Retired with Pension 30.6.1919.
