(No 766 Samuel Irwin Trumpeter 16th Lancers), edge bruising and contact marks, nearly very fine (3) Estimate £ 800-900Trumpeter Samuel Irwin, born 1814 at Stockport, attested for the 16th Lancers 10.9.1833; served in Afghanistan 1838-1839, was present at the battle of Maharajpoor 1843 [entitled to Maharajpoor Star], and at the battles of Aliwal and Sobraon; discharged unfit for service due to chronic rheumatism, 29.12.1857, after serving over 24 years with the colours. Entitled to Maharajpoor Star.
