An officer´s Shoulderbelt-plate ornament of the Madras Foot Artillery A finely-struck and richly-gilt device in the form of the Royal Arms (post 1837) within a crowned strap inscribed madras artillery, edged with a laurel-wreath interwoven with scrolls bearing battle honours seringapatam, corygaum, seetabuldee, mahidpore and nagpoor, four fixing lugs to reverse for attachment to the backing plate See illustration Note: This device accords exactly with that shown in the drawing of the shoulder-belt plate in Dress Regulations of the Madras Artillery 1842 (reproduced in JSAHR Volume LIII No. 213, Spring 1975).
