Salzburg, Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau (1587-1612), 5-Ducat, 1587, 18.81g., cap over ornate arms dividing 8-7, wolf:teod:d:g:archie - salis:sed:apos: legat, rev. two saints seated vis-à-vis, with model of a church, +s.rvsbertvs.et.s.virgilivs.episalzbvrgn (BR.-; F. - ; Pr.-), plugged at 12 o´clock, filed on edge, extensive tooling on obverse; otherwise good very fine or better - exceedingly rare, apparently unrecorded Estimate £ 3,000-4,000Five Ducat pieces are recorded of this Archbishop with the tower design. However of this design they are only known without a date and struck on a smaller flan (cf. Pr.745).
This coin is similar to the larger size issue dated 1587, which is only recorded to the weight of 10, 8 and 6 ducats (Pr.742-744)
