x United States of America The following account is based on information from Jenny! by George Amick (1986, Amos Press): The original sheet of 100 stamps was purchased for $24 by William T. Robey on May 14, 1918, at the New York Avenue Post Office in Washington, D.C. Soon after, the sheet was sold for $15,000 to Philadelphia dealer, Eugene Klein, who in turn sold to collector, Col. Edward H.R. Green, for a $5,000 profit. Klein was authorised to break the sheet into singles and blocks, of which Green retained three blocks of four and the arrow and plate number block of eight. The balance was offered and sold through Klein. 1918 Air Mail 24c. blue and red, variety inverted centre, position 1 with sheet margin at left and straight-edge at top, fresh colours, fine unused without gum.
