Two Plaid Brooches of Highland Regiments A nickel brooch, possibly for a Sergeant of an auxiliary battalion Seaforth Highlanders , in the form of a cast voided fernleaf wreath, 2 7/8 in. diameter, mounted with a Stag´s head as for a Seaforths officer´s brooch but lacking the Cypher; and a Sergeant´s or piper´s brooch of the Gordon Highlanders, the plain nickel-plated quoit 3 1/2 in. diameter, mounted with a well-made device, as for officer´s waistplate, bearing the Sphinx and Tiger (2) Note: The second item would have been worn by Sergeants of both battalions of the Gordons post 1881, and by pipers and bandsmen of the 2nd Battalion.
