An Officer´s Shako-plate of the 35th Regiment A very rare and fine example for the 1829 Pattern (Bell top) shako, the universal pattern gilt plate bearing an eight-pointed star in white metal, mounted with a gilt laurel wreath surrounding a pierced gilt oval inscribed ROYAL SUSSEX REGIMENT , the centre containing gilt numerals 35 on blue enamel ground, beneath a gilt scroll bearing MAIDA (the crown of the backing-plate lacking its orb).
