An Early, 1914, Cavalry Great War D.C.M. Group of Five to Corporal A.A. Page, 4th Hussars Distinguished Conduct Medal, G.V.R. (5748 Cpl. A.A. Page. 4/Hrs.); 1914 Star, with Bar (5748 Pte. A.A. Page. 4/Hrs.); British War and Victory Medals, M.I.D. Oak Leaves (5748 Pte. A. Page. 4-Hrs.); Army Long Service & G.C., G.V.R. (H-5748 Sjt. A.A. Page. 4/Hrs.), suspension loosely reaffixed on D.C.M., regimental details officially corrected on L.S. & G.C., otherwise good very fine, together with riband bar and the following effects &c: - Old Contemptibles´ Association and British Legion lapel badges - Character Certificate upon leaving the Colours - Princess Mary Christmas 1914 tin - Interchangeable Aseptic nickel plated Hypodermic Syringe, with enclosed steel needle in vial, in steel case, used to destroy a wounded horse - Two photographs of the recipient, one showing Page on a horse - A highly emotive George V Farthing, dated 1914, (Peck 2326; S.4059), reputed to have saved the life of Corporal Page, with central bullet mark (5) Estimate £ 1,200-1,400D.C.M. London Gazette 16.1.1915 ´For gallantry and ability at Houdeng-Aineries and at St. Christophe-a-Berry. In the action near Hollebeke on 30th October [1914] his gallant conduct was again noticeable.´ Corporal Arthur Alfred Page, D.C.M. (1885-1956), born Bagshot, Surrey; enlisted Royal Marines 1901; transferred to the 4th Hussars 1903. Transferred to 15th Hussars; demobilised 1922, his service with the Colours described as ´Exemplary´.
