He has set his mind cheerfully to the task in hand with quiet but fine offensive spirit, thereby setting a magnificent example to the remainder of his crew. His skill as a Navigator and his ability to make accurate decisions has contributed in a large measure to the success of the operational flights for which he has been detailed. Sergeant Emmett has continually shown the greatest interest and initiative in the technical aspects of his work, both whilst on and off operations. I consider that his fine record of achievement combined with his enthusiasm and determination to inflict the maximum damage on the German centres of industry be recognised by the award of the Distinguished Flying Medal.´ D.F.M.
