Manchukuo, Order of the Illustrious Dragon, Grand Cordon, Star, 89mm., silver-gilt and enamel, extremely fine, extremely rare Estimate £ 2,000-3,000The Order of the Illustrious Dragon, also known as the Dragon Ray, was instituted by the Emperor Pu Yi in 1934. A one class Order, it ranked second only in the Manchukuo hierachy of awards, being equivalent to the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun with Pawlonia Flowers. From 1934 to 1940 it is believed that only 33 awards were issued.
