Lot: 2081

#3, 1867 5c Violet, a stunning and extremely rare mint irregular block of 32, positions 26-32/62-70, less the block of four in the top right corner, positions 33-34/45-47, an attractive lilac shade of this value which comes in a wide range of violet shades, virtually full o.g. showing light traces of gum toning, some stamps are n.h., several vertical folds mostly between rows, but one affects a vertical row of four and a very light horizontal bend affects the second row of seven, all being rather typical of large multiples of the Condor issues, very fine appearance; the violet printings were made from the last state of the plate and in total are far scarcer than the green printings; though one unique full sheet of this value is known, multiples in any form are scarce and one of this size is of considerable rarity; an important showpiece for a specialized collection.
