Charles I, group II, Halfcrown, 15.03g., Tower, type 2c, king in armour on smaller horse left, plume on horse´s head, cross on housing, reads MA BR FR ET HI, rev. draped oval garnished shield, between C R, m.m. portcullis/harp (JGB -; N.2207; S.2771) lightly scratched by mintmarks, a full coin, fine or better, extremely rare Estimate £ 250-300PROVENANCE: R Carlyon-Britton, third collection purchased by Seaby, 1959 Spink Numismatic Circular, September 1988, no.5529 Mules of mintmarks are very unusual in the Tower Halfcrown series. Only one other example of this portcullis/harp mule is known, from the Shuttlewood collection, Spink Numismatic Circular, June 2001, no.572
