Charles I, Exeter mint, Halfcrown, 13.83g., small neat ´Briot´ horseman walking left, holding sword sloping forwards, lumpy ground below, reads MAG BR FR ET HI, rev. oval shield garnished with eight even scrolls, double pellet/semi-colon stops, m.m. rose (JGB 1030-1 (same obv. die); Besly K11 (this coin); N.2553; S.3067) has been once gilded, now largely removed, the edge filed, otherwise good fine, an extremely rare combination of types Estimate £ 500-600PROVENANCE: P Hunt, portion of collection purchased privately by Colin Adams, March 2000 This is the only example of this die pairing, K11, recorded by Besly.
