Charles I, Oxford mint, Halfcrown, 14.34g., 1644, Briot horseman walking left, plain ground below, Oxford plume behind, rev. declaration, RELI:PRO:LE ANG:LIB:PAR, two Oxford plumes and large central plume above, date and OX below, double pellet/billet stops, m.m. Oxford plume on obverse only (JGB 906 (same obv. die); Morr. C-3; N.2425; S.2965) flan irregular at 2 o´clock, faint scratches on obverse, lightly double struck on reverse, good fine, rare Estimate £ 300-400PROVENANCE: H M Lingford, collection purchased en bloc by Baldwin, 1951 This reverse variety with billet stops is very rare, and is not represented in the Brooker collection. The last example of die-combination Morr. C-3 to be offered at auction appears to be the Lockett specimen, lot 4548, sold in October 1961.
