Charles I, group III, Halfcrowns (2), Tower, type 3a2, king in armour on unadorned horse striding left, cloak flies from king´s shoulders, (i) 14.90g., reads MAG BRI FRA ET HIB, rev. small oval garnished shield, m.m. triangle (cf. JGB 349; N.2211; S.2775); (ii) 14.19g., reads MA BR FR ET HI, rev. large oval garnished shield, m.m. star (over triangle over anchor on obverse) (JGB -; N.2211; S.2775) the first slightly off-centre on reverse, scratch on horse, otherwise full, almost very fine, the second also slightly scratched on horse, on a small flan, fine, the overmark clear and rare (2) Estimate £ 200-250PROVENANCE: (i) J M Ashby, Spink Auction 145, 12 July 2000, lot 2061
