Charles I, group III, Halfcrowns (2), Tower, type 3a1, king in armour on unadorned horse left, scarf flies from king´s waist, rev. oval garnished shield, (i) 14.64g., reads MAG BR FR ET HIB, m.m. crown (JGB 327 (same obv. die); N.2209; S.2773); (ii) 14.03g., reads MA BR FR ET HI, m.m. crown (JGB 330 (same obv. die); N.2209; S.2773) the first on an unusually handsome full flan, attractively toned, with traces of golden/green lustre, very fine or better, the second pierced at 9 o´clock, about fine (2) Estimate £ 200-250PROVENANCE: (i) H M Lingford, collection purchased en bloc by Baldwin, 1951
