xCharles II (1660-85), Five Guineas, 1668, first laureate bust right, pointed truncation, long hair extending down, carolvs.ii. dei.gratia, toothed border both sides, rev. inverted die axis, crowned cruciform shields, eight strings to Irish harp, sceptres in angles, interlinked C´s in centre, date at top, .mag. br.fra. et.hib. rex., edge inverted inscription in raised letters, dated in error +. decvs et . tvtamen .*. anno. regni. vicesimo . primo. (Schneider -; MCE.1; S.3328), struck on a broad flan, surface marks both sides, very fine and not recorded with the edge year for 1669, this coin is therefore evidence that the elephant type Five Guineas of 1668 was struck before the non-elephant variety, thus extremely rare Estimate £ 6,000-8,000
