xCharles I, Triple-unite, 27.07g., Oxford, 1644, on smaller module, large crowned bust of fine work left breaking inner circle, in armour, holding sword and olive branch, plume behind, reads MAG BRI FRA ET HI, rev. declaration RELIG:PROT :LEG:ANG: LIBER:PAR: in three lines on continuous scroll, value and three small plumes above, 1644 OXON below, m.m. small plume on obverse only (B-J dies VII/S11; Schneider 303 (same dies); N.2385; S.2729), an excellent portrait coin, neatly struck on a good flan, attractively toned, with traces of red/gold lustre, almost extremely fine, very rare Estimate £ 12,000-15,000 PROVENANCE:H C Dangar, Glendining, 15 April 1953, lot 127R D Beresford-Jones, Spink Auction 29, 2 June 1983, lot 117
