British Linen Company, a contemporary forgery of a £1, 30 May 1811, serial number K 4/394, black and white, Britannia top left, border of thistles and roses at left, pay to William Fleming in text at centre, the whole note hand executed (cf Douglas 14 for type), damage at right, very good and very rare and possibly made by French prisoners of war at Penicuik.
