x Gold Coast 1788 (18 Apr.) entire letter to Le Havre, headed "Akra", rated "5" (deleted), "2" and "35", showing unframed "portsmouth/ship. lre"; the letter, written in French, is from a ship's captain to his principles. He was slave trading and reports on his progress and on the number of negroes awaiting collection. He refers to the death of a fellow captain at the hands of the natives, giving graphic account of the engagement. This is believed to be the third earliest cover from the Gold Coast
