xBasutoland Official Stamps 1934 (May) 1/2d., 1d., 2d. and 6d., each a corner example, fine unmounted mint. An exceptional set. Holcombe and B.P.A. Certificates (1985). Sc. O1-O4; S.G. O1-O4, £16,000 Estimate £ 10,000-12,000 Note: These stamps were issued on May 4th 1934 apparently without the knowledge or consent of the High Commissioner, who, as soon as they came to his notice, ordered their immediate withdrawal. This was done on June 25th and all unused stocks were returned to Pretoria for destruction. These stamps were never available to the public, and were purely for use in Government offices.
