A Bank of England register in book format listing in alphabetical order all the subscribers to a loan of 12 million pounds raised in Parliament during 1781, the register is dated 14 March 1781 and includes the recording of a £200,000 loan from the Directors of the South Sea Company, £560,000 from Gurnell, Hoare and Co., £320,000 from the directors of the East India Company, £140,000 from Coutts & Co., £50,000 from Francis Baring, £400,000 from the Governor and Directors of the Bank of England, £60,000 from Ladbroke Rawlinson & Co., the book signed by the Chief Cashier, Abraham Newland, a fascinating item and a glimpse into the financial Who's Who in 1781, the money invested representing enormous sums by today's standards. The pages are watermarked alternately with either the Royal cypher or the Royal Coat of Arms, unique Estimate £ 400-500
