Edward IV, second reign, Groats (4), London, (i) 2.75g., m.m. cinquefoil, rose on breast and after DEVM on reverse, large fleurs on cusps, none over crown, A´s chevron barred, (BW XXI, 4/7; S.2100; N.1631); (ii) 2.83g., m.m. pierced cross, pellets by neck, fleurs on cusps except on breast and over crown, extra pellets in CIVI and LON quarters, (BW XIX, 6; S.2099); (iii) 2.60g., m.m. cinquefoil, rose on breast and after MEVM, fleurs on all cusps, A in TAS chevron-barred and struck into the die over O, (BW XXI, 1/ 11 (probably); S.2100; N.1631); (iv) 2.99g., similar to last but rose after POSVI and efore, instead of after MEVM, (BW XXI) the first lightly creased almost very fine, the second rather porous, fine, the third on a small flan, lightly double struck, otherwise very fine, the fourth rather chipped at 11 o´ clock, a magnificent portrait piece, otherwise good very fine (4) Estimate £ 200-250 PROVENANCE: (i) (iii) E M Norweb, collection of Edward IV Groats, acquired en bloc by Spink c.1987 Purchased Seaby, February 1990
