Edward IV, light coinage, Halfgroats (2), Canterbury, royal mint, (i) 1.44g., m.m. crown/sun, quatrefoils (or crosses) by bust, trefoils on cusps, (BW VIII, 4 but variety with quatrefoils (or crosses) instead of trefoils by bust; S.2030; N.1589); (ii) 1.21g., mm. crown/none, similar to last but trefoils by bust, (BW VIII, 1) the first lightly double struck on reverse, a neat round coin, good fine, rare, the second pierced, fair (2) Estimate £ 60-80The mintmark combination crown/sun on a Canterbury royal mint Halfgroat is only recorded for type VIII with trefoils by bust. The marks by bust on the first coin are clearly not trefoils but apppear to be kind hybrid quatrefoil/saltire.
