Edward IV, light coinage, Groat, 2.76g., type Vb, London, m.m. rose, trefoil on breast, quatrefoils by neck, obverse from heavy die of type III, no eye on reverse, reverse from new dies, (BW Vb, 1/4 and pl. IV, 3-4 (same obv. die); S.1997/1998; N.1564/1565) light scratch in obverse field, otherwise very fine, very rare Estimate £ 200-250 PROVENANCE: E M Norweb, collection of Edward IV Groats, acquired en bloc by Spink c.1987 Purchased Seaby, March 1990 This combination of a heavy obverse die with a new light reverse die omitting both the eye after TAS and an extra pellet in one quarter is not recorded by Blunt and Whitton. There was another example from the same dies in the M Delme-Radcliffe collection, lot 184.
