Henry VI, Halfgroats (3), Calais, rosette-mascle coinage, (i) 1.73g., crosses V/V, mascle after REX (?) and before LA, rev. rosettes after SIE and POSVI, (Whitton 18; S. 1862; N. 1448); (ii) 1.90g., crosses V/V, rosette punctuation on obverse, mascle after REX and before LA, rev. rosettes after SIE and POSVI, reads DEVI (sic) for DEVM, (Whitton 18; S. 1862; N. 1448); (iii) 1.86g., crosses IIIa/V, rosette punctuation on obverse, mascle after REX and before LA, rev. rosettes after SIE and POSVI, (Whitton 21; S.1862; N.1448) the first on a small flan, fine, the others very fine, the last full but with a small edge crack at 5 o´ clock (3) Estimate £ 100-120The die-sinker has made a real mess of punching in the word DEVM on the reverse. His first attempt was DVMI and this has been corrected by punching an E over V and V over the M to give DEVI!
