Henry VI, Halfgroat, 1.53g., York, annulet coinage, crosses II/none, lis either side of bust (Whitton 4; Lessen, obv. die 2/rev. die 2, BNJ 1993, pl. 8, 16/15 (same dies); S.1843; N.1430) large chip at 6 o´ clock, otherwise an excellent portrait piece, good very fine, extremely rare Estimate £ 500-600PROVENANCE: Metal detector find in Kent, c. 1998 Three of the five York annulet coinage Halfgroats recorded by Lessen are in museum collections. This coin provides a new die combination.
