R.), suspension slack, pitted from Star; Khedive´s Star 1882; Queen´s South Africa, six clasps, Cape Colony, Tugela Heights, Orange Free State, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal, Laing´s Nek (Major H.S. Scholes, 1/Yk. & Lanc: Rgt.); King´s South Africa, two clasps (Maj H.S. Scholes. York & Lanc: Regt.), edge bruising, very fine unless otherwise stated (4) Estimate £ 650-700Colonel Henry Southey Scholes; 2nd Lieutenant York and Lancaster Regiment, 1877; Lieutenant 1879; served with the regiment during the Egyptian War 1882-89, and was present at the engagements at El Magfar, Tel-el-Mahuta, and in the two actions at Kassasin; served in South Africa as Second in Command of the 1st Battalion from 17.10.1900; Officer Commanding 1st Battalion 1.5-16.8.1901; present at the action at Spion Kop, Vaal Kranz, and Pieter´s Hill (Mentioned in Lord Roberts´ Despatches London Gazette 8.2.1901 and 10.9.1901; Mentioned in Sir R.H.
