Auction: 5011 - Stamps & Covers of the World
Lot: 839
x Envelope No. 12, addressed to Southsea, obverse showing red London Paid ´tombstone´ of 23 March 1841 with ink manuscript ´4´ alongside, the reverse with red Chatham datestamp of 22 March; some creasing and a few light stain spots though still most attractive and very rare, being one of only three recorded used examples (also being probably unique in terms of such a manuscript due inscription – usually indicating a weight not normally associated with this type/size of envelope).
