Great Britain 1714-1918, an interesting collection of thirty-nine Acts of Parliament relating to the Post Office, a fascinating range of topics covered including: Frauds and Abuses in the Post Office (1714); Penny Post regulations (1727 and 1794); Rates of Postage between Britain and the Isle of Man (1761); Free franking priveleges for members of Parliament (1802); Theft of/from the mail or its destruction (1802); Postage rates from mails to/from Britain, Cape of Good Hope, Mauritius and the East Indies (1815); Conveyance of Packets containing re-issuable Country banknotes (1824); Franking privileges in Ireland (1832); Regulations for post to and from overseas (1835); General Postal Duty Regulations (1839, 1870); Colonial Posts (1844); Regulations for postage rates on redirected military mail (1860); Transmission of newspapers (1881); Offences committed in relation to the Post Office (1884), The Post Office Act (1908), etc.; mostly in fine condition. An extremely rare assembly as most of these Acts are missing from the Crawford Library Estimate £ 3,500-4,000
