Crime and Punishment Punishment Transportation 1831 (14 Jan.) entire letter from the Keeper of Monmouth Gaol to a solicitor in Usk, the letter being an expenses claim by the Keeper in relation to the transfer of a man to Hereford (convicted of horse-stealing his death sentence was commuted to transportation for life – despatched to New South Wales, he was pardoned in 1842); fine and attractive.
