Crime and Punishment Prisons Wales 1831 entire letter from the Keeper of Monmouth Gaol to a Solicitor in Usk, the content being a list of debtor prisoners held there (address panel incomplete at left); 1856 and 1859 entire letters (printed interiors) to Usk relating to Debtors held at Monmouth Gaol; 1859 letter inserts (2) being a correspondence between Usk and Hereford Gaols relating to a prisoner named Erasmus Guy; 1862 entire letter from a prisoner in Monmouth Gaol to Newport – the 1d. adhesive is cancelled at London (presumably forwarded by a Solicitor there), the letter being the sworn testament of a man named Michael Phillips; fine Estimate £ 180-220
