Crime and Punishment Prisons London Millbank: 1834 entire letter from the Governor to his nephew (congratulating him on his upcoming marriage), sent under the ´Free´ franking system and signed ´C. Russell´ - clearly in breach of the privilege allowance; 1848 envelope with printed ´On Her Majesty´s Service´ and ´Millbank Prison´ on address panel, used to Devon with 1841 1d.; 1852 entire to Henry Castle at Millbank Prison – the reverse with manuscript notes showing that Castle was unknown there and that the letter had been opened to ascertain a return address, also 1819 printed four-page Act of Parliament ´For the better Regulation of the General Penitentiary for Convicts at Millbank´; mostly fine.
