Crime and Punishment Prisons Ireland 1840 and 1841 entire letters from prison officers at Cavan Gaol and Richmond Female Penitentiary respectively; 1855 printed entire letter from a debtor prisoner at Four Courts Marshalsea Prison in Dublin; 1866 entire letter from a military prisoner held at Spike Island (the writer enquires after his share of the Lucknow Prize Money after his service with the Bengal Lancers); 1879 document from Dublin Castle relating to a female prisoner in Cork Gaol which confirms that the sentence of death had been commuted to ´penal servitude for the term of her natural life´; 1917 envelopes (4) from James O´Sullivan serving six months hard labour in Belfast - a member of the Irish Citizens Army, he was involved in the Dublin ´Easter Rising´ of April 1916 and after going on hunger strike was transferred to the Special Stage 1 Unit in Dublin where force-feeding was employed; a mostly fine and very interesting group Estimate £ 500-600
