NORTH BORNEO 1918 (Aug.) "red cross/two cents" Surcharges 2c. black and green, a lower right corner pair, variety imperforate between, unused with large part original gum; the left stamp with small light tone spot on reverse which does not affect the superb fresh mint appearance. Undoubtedly one of the rarest North Borneo varieties. We cannot trace any record of this variety ever coming up for sale in auction or by Private Treaty and, of the ten possible examples, the only other example known is in the Royal Collection.
