India General Service 1908-35, two clasps, Afghanistan N.W.F. 1919, Waziristan 1921-24 (Lieut. C.N.B. St. Ruth, M.C. 37/Lcrs.), edge bruise, nearly extremely fine Estimate £ 200-250 M.C. London Gazette 24.9.1918 T./Lt. Gerald Henry Berkeley St. Ruth, M.G. Corps. ´For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in command of a section of four guns during an enemy attack. By his fine example of coolness and cheerfulness he encouraged his men to maintain his guns in action under heavy concentrated shell fire, and to inflict heavy losses on the enemy. When forced to withdraw he showed great initiative in the selection of new positions, and was undoubtedly instrumental in delaying the enemy´s advance. Throughout the operations he displayed qualities of a very high order.´ Lieutenant Gerald Henry Berkeley St. Ruth M.C., Temporary Lieutenant Machine Gun Corps, 25.7.1917; Lieutenant 25.4.1918; appointed Indian Army, attached 37th Lancers, 12.1.1920.
