Fryer. 2/Essex Regt); Queen´s South Africa, three clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, South Africa 1902 (Pte Essex Regt); 1914 Star with Bar (Pte. 2/Essex R.); British War and Victory Medals (Pte), some edge bruising and contact marks to Q.S.A., very fine and better, mounted as originally worn (5) Estimate £ 800-1,000 D.C.M. London Gazette 11.3.1916 ´For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty as stretcher bearer. Privates Doyle and Fryer repeatedly exposed themselves to heavy fire in order to collect the wounded.´ Private Sydney Fryer, D.C.M., entered the French Theatre of Operations 14.9.1914.
