Korea 1950-53 (Capt. P.K. Cuthbert R.E.M.E.), extremely fine Estimate £ 350-450 Captain Peter Kennedy Cuthbert, educated at Sherbourne School and Christchurch, Cambridge, Second Lieutenant R.E.M.E. 20.10.1949; Lieutenant 15.4.1951; Captain 3.1.1952. Operation Jehu Operation Jehu, a raid against ´Point 156´ on the Peking Highway, was undertaken by 5 Inniskilling Dragoon Guards on 17.6.1952. Moving across a paddy field in no-man´s land, several tanks were hit by artillery fire or disabled by mines. Soon three out of the four tanks of 1 Troop were bogged down and, on the withdrawal of the remainder of the Squadron these were subjected to heavy and accurate artillery fire. An Armoured Recovery Vehicle, which also struck a mine, joined the three tanks in the exposed position, and a ´tug´ with the medical team also became bogged down, resulting in five vehicles needing rescuing. Captain Cuthbert went out in a second ARV, and, when the winch rope was cut by a shell, he dismounted to direct operations, and was wounded. With a great deal of hard work under fire, three of the five vehicles were recovered by the end of the day. Captain Cuthbert relinquished his commission on completion of his service 29.10.1953.
