Afghanistan, Sherdil Khan (c1818-1824) anonymous coinage, base silver Rupee, AH 1243, Ahmadshahi mint (Qandahar), kalima, rev. ya shah-e ghouth al-a'zam (Oh king of the supreme refuge) (c.f.KM.165; Supplement to ONS Newsletter 159, p15), about fine, extremely rare Estimate £ 60-90 Although Krause describes this coin as a falus, it is in fact a rupee struck in a very debased silver, or billon. Album attributes it to Sherdil Khan in his article (supplement to ONS Newsletter 159, Spring 1999), where he says "it is very rare with probably fewer than two dozen specimens known".
