Joel (mid 6th Century A.D.), AR, 0.71g., capped and draped bust facing, Ge'ez legend ngš 'y'l "King Joel", rev. small cross inlaid with gold within circle, Greek legend apechxv , (AC 129; H 57); Gersem (c. 600 A.D.) AE, 1.87g., crowned and draped bust facing with cross at each side, Ge'ez legend ngš grsm "King Gersem", rev. cross in diamond of dots, Ge'ez legend bkrsts ymw' "through Christ he conquers " (AC 148; H 53), good fine, the second with crack in flan (2) Estimate £ 70-100 The Gersem heavier than any recorded in AC, but BMC 564 and P 353 are heavier still at 1.97g. and 2.01g. respectively
