NGC AU58 | William III, Solus (1694-1702), 'Fine-Work' Five-Guineas, 1701 DECIMO TERTIO, "Ornamental Sceptres" Type, second laureate head right, rev. crowned shields cruciform, ornamented sceptres in angles, + •+ DECVS • ET • TVTAMEN • ANNO • REGNI • DECIMO • TERTIO upwards on edge, 6h (MCE 172; Schneider II, 481; EGC 401; GH 62; Stratos -; King 139; S.3456), minor adjustment marks on cheek, otherwise an exemplary cabinet specimen of this surprisingly rare 'Ornamental Sceptres' variety, outstandingly cabinet toned with rich red-orange tone overlying natural mint surfaces, the devices sharply and uniformly struck up, a most pleasingly good extremely fine, in NGC 'QR' holder, highly conservatively graded NGC AU58 (Cert. #8536734-001)
