The East African Currency Board, *TOP POP* 1000/- Shillings = £50, Mombasa, 15th December 1921, serial number A/1 33075, sign. Mercer, Bottomley and Ezechiel,

(Pick 18a, TBB B214a), in PMG holder 55 About Uncirculated, cancelled, staple holes, the single finest graded on PMG census (with no other examples in this grade). Only a handful of surviving examples of the 1000/- notes are known. In 1921 holding significant purchasing power, equivalent to £50 (£2150~ as of October 2025), was demonetised with punch-hole cancellations, most likely by EACB, for reasons known only to the Board itself. Incredible and fascinating!
