Bank of England, C. P. Mahon, a presentation pair of the first issue of the modern series of £1 and 10/-, both with serial number A0l 000028, the £1 green, the 10/- brown, both with ornate crowned vignette of Britannia at left, value at right. There is also a vellum envelop inscribed 'BANK OF ENGLAND 22 NOVEMBER 1928'and a letter from the Bank of England dated 21 November 1928 begging the recipient to accept the new public issue of notes being issued on the following day (B.214), a lovely set in original condition, extremely rare and unusual in that the original letter is included in the lot (2) Estimate £ 5,000-6,000
