Elizabeth I, fifth issue, Pound, 11.01g., bust 8A, crowned bust left with long hair and richly ornamented dress, rev., crowned square-topped shield with e r at sides, colon/pellet stops, pellet after regina, m.m. key (over woolpack both sides) (Brown & Comber F11; Schneider 800 (same obv. die); N.2008; S.2534), some faint scratches on obverse, otherwise a neatly struck round coin, with attractive golden tone, good very fine or better, the overmark clear, rare Estimate £ 4,000-5,000 provenance:

This coin has a different reverse die to the example quoted as B & C F11. It forms the companion piece, and is struck from the same reverse die, as the Pound with key over tun ovemark at the end of the obverse legend, B & C F14 (c.f. Spink Auction 166, lot 14).
