Edward VI (1547-53), third period, Sovereign, 11.15g., half length figure of king in armour right, crowned, carrying sword and orb, reads fra z hib, rev., crowned shield with lion and dragon supporters, er on scroll below, ihs avte tranci per mediv illor ibat, pellet stops, pellet to left and colon to right of mintmark on both sides, m.m. y (c.f. Schneider 690; N.1927; S.2450), scratched by cross on orb, has been burnished in obverse field, otherwise about very fine, the reverse better, rare Estimate £ 2,500-3,000 Mintmark y is five times rarer than mintmark tun on the third period Sovereigns of Edward VI.
