Edward IV, first reign (1461-70), light coinage, Ryal, 7.63g., Bristol, type VIII, king standing facing in ship, holding sword and shield, rose on ship's side, banner inscribed E at stern, B in waves, rev., rose upon a radiate sun in centre of floriated cross, small trefoils in spandrels, trefoil and double trefoil stops, m.m. crown on reverse only (c.f. Schneider 419; N.1550; S.1954), an attractive coin for this mint, good very fine, with a golden tone, rare Estimate £ 1,250-1,500 provenance: Spink Numismatic Circular, April 1973, no.3065
